(January 23, 2008) Washington, D.C. – During a visit to Washington, D.C. this week to attend the U.S. Conference of Mayors, City of Bellflower Mayor Scott Larsen met with Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA-34) to thank her for her successful efforts in Congress to secure federal funding for 170 bus stop shelters in the community as well as for its planned fire department museum. The congresswoman and the mayor also discussed the city’s other priorities, including transportation and water infrastructure initiatives. Following the meeting, the mayor and his wife, Monica, (pictured right) were led on a tour of the U.S. Capitol Building by a member of the congresswoman’s staff. The congresswoman’s office also arranged tours for the mayor and his wife of the Pentagon, U.S. Supreme Court, the White House and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. For assistance scheduling tours of the U.S. Capitol and other key historical sites, constituents traveling to our nation’s capital are invited to contact the congresswoman’s office at (202) 225-1766.
