Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement regarding the deadly terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India:
“The cowardly attack on Mumbai is an assault on civilized behavior rightly condemned by the world. Our sympathies go to those killed or wounded and their families. Those held hostage have our prayers for a safe and speedy release.
"This is not the first time terrorists have tried to weaken the commitment of the people of India to freedom and democracy. The United States stands with India in sending a clear message that the empty promise of terrorism will never succeed.”
