Website Privacy Policy I have posted
this privacy statement in order to demonstrate my firm commitment
to protecting your privacy. Please be aware that the privacy
policy of the United States Senate Website, which hosts
this page, also applies to my pages. This policy governs the
Internet or Web information gathering and dissemination practices
of my office. I observe this policy voluntarily. I am a cosponsor
of legislation to protect the privacy of all visitors to commercial
websites in the United States.
I believe that the preservation of my visitors right to privacy
is a solemn responsibility of my office. The purpose of this
site is to better serve the citizens of Wisconsin and the
United States by ensuring clear and continuous communication.
Any information I receive on this site will be used by my
office to reply to your questions or comments and to better
understand your concerns. Such information will be used for
properly authorized or official government purposes only,
and will not be used, sold, or offered for any commercial
purpose.
My site is stored on the United States Senate server. For
site management, the United States Senate Web Site collects
information for statistical purposes. This government computer
system uses software programs to create summary statistics,
which are used for such purposes as assessing what information
is of most and least interest, determining technical design
specifications, and identifying system performance or problem
areas.
For site security purposes and to ensure that this service
remains available to all users, the United States Senate computer
system employs software programs to monitor network traffic
and identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information,
or otherwise cause damage.
The Information We Collect
My web site provides several online forms
(e.g. Contact Senator Feingold) to better serve the needs
of my visitors. The information voluntarily provided by visitors
and collected on this page (name, address, and message) is
used to verify your residency and send a reply to you via
U.S. Mail. If you are concerned about the security of transmitting
information to my office over the Internet, please contact
my office through the U.S. Mail at 506 Hart Senate Office
Building, Washington D.C. 20510.
My web pages do not use cookies to track your
visits. Cookies are small pieces of information a website
stores on a visitors' browser to identify the user the next
time they visit the site.
How We Use the Information
My office tabulates the number of constituent
comments I receive on many issues. Your comments may be quoted
in speeches, inserted into the Congressional Record, shared
with relevant federal agencies or otherwise used in debate
before the United States Senate. However, your name or personal
identity will never be used for such purposes without your
direct authorization. I will share with appropriate law enforcement
officials any submission that constitutes a physical or otherwise
illegal threat or is otherwise harassing.
