Contemporary African Art Exhibition is Subject of Jan. 30 Lecture
Tim Davis, owner and director of International Visions-The Gallery in Washington, D.C., will give an overview of the gallery’s exhibition "Africa Revisited" at a lecture titled "Conversations on African Cultural Expression." The lecture will be held at the Library of Congress at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 30, in Room 220 in the Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First Street S.E., Washington, D.C.
Sponsored by the African Section of the Library’s African and Middle Eastern Division the lecture is free and open to the public but seating is limited.
Davis will be joined by painter Adam Abdalla of Sudan, whose work encompasses "the people, history, case and tragedy of Darfur." Abdalla, who has been in the United States for three months, will discuss how his work explores the question "How can we protect human dignity?"
The new exhibition, which will be on view through Feb. 23, features the work of four contemporary African artists from Sudan, Togo, Nigeria and Uganda.
