Library of Congress Reopens to Public on October 26
The Library of Congress will reopen the Jefferson, Adams and Madison buildings to the public on October 26.
The Library of Congress has completed testing of all its Capitol Hill buildings and has been notified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that the tests were negative and no evidence of anthrax contamination was found.
All visitors are welcome, including tourists without appointments, tour groups, researchers and individuals doing business. The reading by Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry Billy Collins, scheduled for Thursday evening, has been tentatively rescheduled for December 6. The Andrew Manze Baroque concert will be held, as scheduled, in the Coolidge auditorium at 8 pm on Friday, October 26. The October 26-27 symposium on Japanese Ukiyo-e prints and picture books will be held as planned at the University of Maryland on Friday and all day Saturday in the Mumford Room of the Library of Congress's Madison Building at 101 Independence Ave. S.E.
