Service Academy Qualifications

General Qualifications for all Applicants:

• U.S. Citizenship
• At least 17 years old by July 1st of entering year and not older than 23
• Unmarried, not pregnant, no dependents
• Resident of the State of California and the 2nd Congressional District
• SAT/ACT Scores
• Must Pass academy physical requirements and medical examination
• Strong Moral Character

Individuals seeking a nomination to one of the service academies from Congressman Herger (2nd Congressional District of California) are encouraged to apply in the spring of their junior year of high school.  Only students eligible to enter an academy in the summer of 2009 (Class of 2013) may apply for a nomination at this time.

Due to the competitiveness of the selection process, it is strongly recommended that in addition, each candidate apply to both U.S. Senators and the Vice President.
