The intellectual property rights for the designs produced for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial competition, aside from the winning competition entry produced by Maya Lin (and drawings related to same), may be held by the authors or creators of these works. Intellectual property rights for the winning competition entry were dedicated to the public by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in 1985.

Access: Permitted; subject to P&P policy on serving originals. Original material is currently in cold storage located off-site. A color surrogate is provided for use by researchers.

Reproduction (photocopying, hand-held camera copying, photoduplication and other forms of copying allowed by "fair use"): Permitted; subject to P&P policy on copying. This policy prohibits xeroxing of the original material in this collection.

Publication and other forms of distribution: Restricted. Aside from the winning design, permission for reproduction or dissemination by other means aside from that allowed under fair use should be sought from the author(s) or creators) of the respective work. Addresses of the competitors are available in the P &P Supplementary Archives.
