Thank you!

Thanks to those of you who participated in my recent online town hall meeting about the struggling economy and the economic stimulus package.  More than 275 people submitted questions!  Although I did not have time to answer all of the questions submitted, I hope I was able to address some of your concerns regarding our economy and the recently enacted economic stimulus package.

Clearly our country is facing challenging economic times.  More and more people struggle to make ends meet while the cost of essentials like groceries, gas and health care continue to rapidly rise.  The Recovery Rebates and Economic Stimulus for the American People Act will take an important first step to help jumpstart our slowing economy and create jobs here at home.  It will put hundreds of dollars into the hands of more than 130 million American families including seniors and disabled veterans, expand financing opportunities for Americans in danger of losing their homes because of the mortgage crisis, and help create 500,000 jobs by the end of the year.

The bipartisan economic stimulus package will go a long way to stimulate our economy.  However, more must be done.  Please be assured that I will continue working with my colleagues to put our economy back on track.

In case you missed it, you can read the entire transcript of the town hall by clicking here.
