Description: General Alphabetical Online Catalog of Russian Books from 1725-1998. Founded in 1795 by Catherine the Great, the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg is one of the most important libraries in Russia with vast collections in the humanities and social sciences. The catalog searches only for main entries, not the entire text of every card, displaying them in a browse list of entries. Sometimes the user must select the entry that is closest in alphabetical order and then scan through the cards to find the cards for the desired author. In addition, the catalog must be searched using Cyrillic characters.
