STATEMENT OF THE PRINCIPAL CONFEREES FOR THE INTELLIGENCE REFORM BILL

Representative Pete Hoekstra, Senator Susan Collins, Senator Joe Lieberman, and Representative Jane Harman, the lead conferees negotiating on the Senate and House versions of the Intelligence Reform Act, released the following statement upon the conclusion of their meeting today:

"We continue to work to resolve the many differences between the Senate and House versions of intelligence reform legislation. The issues are challenging, complex, and difficult. Both we, and our staff will continue to work hard, and we anticipate holding a telephone conference call with all the conferees on Friday to update our colleagues on the results of our negotiations. Following that conference call, the four of us intend to have a press availability via a conference call."

Further details on the press availability will be announced tomorrow.
