The Boyhood of Lincoln--An Evening in the Log Hut Between the ages of 7 and 21, Abe Lincoln lived with his family in Indiana. They had moved from a farm on Knob Creek, near Hodgenville, Kentucky. Today, the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial preserves the family farm, near Lincoln City, Indiana, on state highway 162. Before moving to Indiana, Lincoln and his sister attended "blab schools" where students learned by repeating their lessons out loud, over and over again. Lincoln later insisted that he learned best by using two senses and he often annoyed his law partner by reading the newspaper out loud.
