Senate Appropriations Committee Funds Washington Military Construction Projects
Barracks at Fort Lewis, Control Tower at Whidbey Island, Munitions Maintenance Administration Facility at Fairchild Receive Federal Funding

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced that the Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a significant increase in military construction spending for Washington State.
The state will receive $239 million in federal support will come to Washington State to rebuild barracks, build new training facilities and construct a new control tower if the full Congress approves the bill.
The Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved the Military Construction Appropriations bill; one of the 13 spending bills Congress must pass to fund the federal government. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, Sen. Murray has worked hard to make sure that Washington's bases received substantial federal support.
"The men and women who serve in our military are the guardians of the freedoms we enjoy," said Sen. Murray. "It is essential that our men and women in uniform have modern facilities in which to train, and safe and clean housing in which to live. The quality of life for our service members is critical to maintaining the finest military in the world. We must take care of those who take care of America."
Fort Lewis is the largest benefactor; receiving $136 million for barracks renovation, vehicle maintenance facilities, staging complexes, a combat vehicle trail, a pallet handling facility and an ammunition supply point.
Bremerton NS will receive $24.5 million for pier replacement.
McChord AFB will receive $23.5 million for extended nose docks for C-17s, and for a mission support center.
Whidbey Island NAS will receive $14 million for a new control tower and for a new P-3 support facility, and an aircrew water survival training facility.
Everett NS will receive $6.8 million for a new shore maintenance facility.
Bangor NS will receive $3.9 million for utilities and site improvements.
Fairchild AFB will receive $2.8 million to replace a munitions maintenance administration facility.
Washington National Guard will receive $1.4 million for a new courseware development support facility.
