OER Grants Web Site Redesign - August 1, 2007

The OER Grants Web site has been redesigned to include the following new features and changes:

Great care has been used to preserve links on the new site that were used in the past.  If you experience any bad links or technical problems, please contact the OER Webmaster.  Questions, comments or suggestions relating to the content of web site may be directed to the Content Manager listed at the bottom of the web page.

You may also want to see the May 2007 NIH Extramural Nexus for additional information.  Below is more information on new site features and changes.

New Site Features:
  • Content Managers - Content Managers have been identified for most site pages (may be an individual or office).  Content Managers are responsible for reviewing and updating content and links on a designated Web page.  Questions, comments, or suggestions regarding content on a specific Web page should be sent to the Content Manager's e-mail address noted at the bottom of the page.    The Content Manager's last review date of a specific Web page is also shown in the page footer.

  • Header – The standard Header contains a site Search box and links to the Advanced Search, Site Map and Contact Us, as well as a Print Version of the page (without the header, navigation bar and footer).  You may also click the “Office of Extramural Research” graphic to go to the OER Home Page or on the “National Institutes of Health” graphic to go to NIH home page.

  • Site Navigation – Site navigation includes 7 main categories (Home, About Grants, Funding, Forms & Deadlines, Grants Policy, News & Events and About OER) that are shown horizontally below the main header, with the selected category highlighted.  Each main category has sub-categories, which are listed vertically down the left-hand side of the page, with the selected item being highlighted.  Highlighted areas indicate your current location and allow for quick and easy navigation to all other areas of the site.

  • Right-Side Information Bar:  On the Home page, this includes links to New Flashes, OER news (Nexus and various Listservs), Workshops & Seminars, Policy Notices, and more.  In addition, other site pages may have a right-side bar with related resources and other information.

  • Footer – Each footer contains links to many standard web site resources (e.g. Home, Search, Site Map, etc.) and now includes the following information relating to the specific page:

    • Page Last Reviewed – Date that the page was last reviewed for content by the Content Manager.
    • Content Manager – E-mail address of the individual or office responsible for review and updates to page content.
    • Technical Issues – Link to OER Webmaster e-mail address to report any technical issues or problems relating to the Web page or web site.

Special Acknowledgement:

The OER would like to extend its appreciation to the many individuals and committees who assisted in the writing, review, and/or editing of material included in the new content sections.  In addition, there are many Web pages of new content which are based on current Web resources developed and maintained by NIH's Institutes and Centers.  Thank you to those who contribute and maintain these valuable resources for the extramural community and for use of this information on the OER Web site.  In particular, the OER would like to thank NCI for the model used to develop the Grants Process At-A-Glance Chart (NCI version available in the NCI Grants Process Book ) and a special thanks to NIAID for use of content available in the NIAID "All About Grants" Tutorials.

eRA Web Site Redesigned:

The electronic Research Administration (eRA) is pleased to announce the launch of its new website (http://era.nih.gov/) designed to provide helpful, up-to-date information with quick and easy navigation for visitors. The revamped eRA home page ushers users to the information that is important to them by tailoring the content in distinct areas for Grant Applicants versus NIH/Federal Grantor Agencies. The goal is to put the information you need at your fingertips. The website has been designed based on analysis of website traffic, frequently used links and feedback from the grant community. More...
