Chief Judge Paul Michel and Circuit Judge Richard Linn will speak at the inauguration of The Hon. William C. Conner Inn of Court at the Union League Club of New York City on January 15, 2009. The Inn is named in honor of Judge William C. Conner who sits on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Federal Circuit Announces Holiday Closings on January 19 and 20, 2009

The Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2009, and Tuesday, January 20, 2009. The court's order about the closings is available at this link.

Chief Judge Michel and Circuit Judge Moore to Speak at the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel Meeting in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on January 27 and 28, 2009

Chief Judge Paul Michel and Circuit Judge Kimberly Moore will speak at the Association of Corporate Patent Counsel Meeting in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Judge Moore will speak on a panel titled “Reform of a Fast-moving Target: The Development of Patent Law Since the 2004 NAS Report” on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Symposium on the Federal Circuit at the National Press Club on March 18, 2009

The Federal Circuit Bar Association and The George Washington University School of Law will cosponsor a day-long symposium about the Federal Circuit on March 18, 2009. The symposium will be held at the National Press Club in Washington DC. Federal Circuit judges, District Court judges, several former Solicitors General of the United States are scheduled to be among the presenters. The proceedings and papers from the symposium will be published in a future issue of The George Washington Law Review. Additional information will be provided soon.

The Federal Circuit Bar Association Announces Bench & Bar Conference June 18-21, 2009

The Federal Circuit Bar Association will be holding its next Bench & Bar Conference on June 18-21, 2009 at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Judges of the Federal Circuit Sitting by Designation for 2007 and 2008

The Chief Justice assigns circuit judges to sit by designation with another circuit court pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 291. Thus far in 2008, five Federal Circuit judges have sat by designation with a sister circuit. Five judges of the Federal Circuit had the opportunity to sit by designation with three sister circuits during calendar year 2007. A list of the Federal Circuit judges who have been so designated is available for 2007 and 2008.

Visiting Judges Sitting with the Federal Circuit

Since September 2006, thirty-six judges from circuit and district courts around the country have sat with the Federal Circuit. A list of the visiting judges who have sat with the court through January 2009 is available here.
