Rep. Snyder Named Chairman of Military Personnel Subcommittee
Will Also Be a Member of Newly-Reinstated Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Vic Snyder announced today that he has been named Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel.  The Personnel Subcommittee deals with military personnel policy such as troop strength and retention, and health care and educational benefits.

“At this critical time in our nation’s history, our men and women in uniform, their families, and retirees, must have the best training, health care, and support that our government can provide,” said Congressman Vic Snyder.  “I look forward to continuing to work on these very important issues.”

Congressman Snyder will also be member of the newly-reinstated House Armed Services Committee (HASC) Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.  The Subcommittee was dissolved in 1995 when the Republican majority took power.

“Since the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee was dissolved, and especially during the war in Iraq, the HASC’s oversight has been abysmal,” said Congressman Snyder.  “Currently, with our main mission being the war in Iraq, it is critical that the Congress, and especially the Armed Services Committees, exercise our Constitutional responsibilities to provide appropriate, bipartisan oversight.”

Congressman Vic Snyder, a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, serves on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee and the House Armed Services Committee.
