Business Enterprise Information Services (BEIS)

The Business Enterprise Information Services (BEIS) delivers enterprise business services to support the Department of Defense (DoD). The BEIS functional baseline includes:

  • The Standard Financial Information Structure (SFIS) Library Service. Employing a service-oriented architecture (SOA), the SFIS Library Service establishes a centralized repository for the domain values of SFIS data and is accessible anytime, anywhere via the Internet.
  • The Corporate General Ledger Service provides a corporate general ledger capability wherein all accounting entries are reconcilable to original source transaction information (audit trails are built-in).  BEIS transforms legacy accounting system transactional ledger data to SFIS format prior to posting to the corporate general ledger.  BEIS posts SFIS compliant ledger data received from the core accounting systems to the corporate general ledger.
  • The BEIS houses the Allocation Unique Identity (AUID) Registry Service.  The AUID is a unique identifier that represents a fund authorization at the Treasury Appropriation Fund Symbol, Budget Activity, Budget Sub-Activity, Budget Line Item, and Period of Availability level.  The AUID registry maintains pedigree data associated with the AUID to preclude having to pass the data from system to system.
  • The Financial Reporting Services provides an enterprise level financial reporting capability wherein all budgetary reports and financial statements are produced from the same corporate general ledger.
  • The Enterprise Business Intelligence Service utilizes a centralized repository for capturing financial data from across the DoD enterprise.  The service provides an enterprise-level business intelligence capability which yields access to timely, accurate, and reliable financial information.
