Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Business Transformation Paul Brinkley will be speaking about Business Transformation at DoD and "Cross-Service Logistics Strategies." This year's program includes details on supply chain visibility, end-to-end distribution and process improvement: the redundancy of resources. Individuals from the Business Transformation Agency (BTA) will be on hand in the exhibits area to speak to attendees about the role BTA plays in driving Business Transformation in the Department of Defense.

BTA Director David Fisher will be speaking on "Transforming the Business of Logistics" at the Military Logistics Summit. This year’s program includes details on what it takes to achieve 360-degree readiness and how to best modernize and transform logistics systems, reset equipment and supplies, maximize resource efficiency, and make corrections more quickly.
- USJFCOM-NDIA Industry Symposium 2007, July 31 - August 1, 2007, Hampton Roads Convention Center, Hampton Roads, VA
BTA Director David Fisher will be giving a presentation on "Transitioning Capabilities" at the USJFCOM-NDIA Industry Symposium, while BTA employees will be at a booth in the exhibits area offering information and answering questions. The Industry Symposium provides a forum for government, industry, and academic leadership to understand warfighter requirements and acquisition challenges.
- Government Executive Leadership Breakfast, July 18, 2007, National Press Club, Washington, DC. BTA Director David Fisher joins other government experts to discuss the challenges of transforming, improving, and modernizing the Department of Defense. Also on the panel are moderator Timothy Clark, Editor and President of Government Executive; Sharon Pickup, Director, Defense Capabilities and Management, U.S. Government Accountability Office; and Randy Hite, Director, Information Technology, U.S. Government Accountability Office.
- American Society of Military Comptrollers PDI 2007, May 29 – June 1, Kansas City, Mo., Kansas City Convention Center. The Business Transformation Agency will be exhibiting in Booth # 420 at ASMC PDI 2007. Individuals from the BTA will be on hand to speak to attendees about the role BTA plays in driving Business Transformation in the Department of Defense. The National Professional Development Institute (PDI) is a premier training event for resource managers in the Department of Defense and US Coast Guard. Each year, more than 3,300 attendees converge for a four day event, which includes a full day of service activities, seven general sessions, more than seventy workshops, and many special events.

The Business Transformation Agency will be exhibiting in Booth # 23, Virginia Suite, at the 2007 Sea-Air-Space Exposition. Sea-Air-Space, sponsored by the Navy League of the United States, is the largest maritime show of its kind. This year's theme is "Sea Power to Secure Victory."

The BTA will be exhibiting as part of the DoD Pavilion (booth # 1809). Exhibits will include information on the DIMHRS program and Federal Integrated Acquisition Environment (IAE) programs such as the Central Contractor Registry (CCR), Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA), Federal Registration System (FedReg), and the Federal Technical Data Solutions (FedTeDS). - Reserve Officers
Association (ROA) Mid-Winter Conference, Washington Hilton
and Towers (DuPont Circle), February 4-7, 2007. More than
1,000 reservists, including senior Reserve leaders and decision
makers, gather to exchange ideas and renew their commitment
to the security of our nation, and demonstrate
their role in resetting and strengthening the Reserve Components.
This year's theme is "Resetting The Total Force." Please

The National Guard Bureau CIO hosts the National Guard Bureau’s annual
National Information Technology and Communications Conference and Exposition.
This conference is a joint service conference and is supported by the Air National
Guard and the Army National Guard. The program will include IT Management representatives
from all 54 states and territories. Conference topics will focus on assuring
communication, improving jointness of forces interoperability, horizontal integration,
and data fusion.

David M. Fisher, Acting Director of the BTA, will speak about business transformation
within the Department of Defense as part of a panel discussion.
- 16th Annual Executive Leadership Conference (ELC), Colonial Williamsburg,
VA, October 29—31, 2006
The ELC is the American Council for Technology (ACT) and its Industry Advisory
Council's (IAC) premiere leadership event, which brings together senior
industry executives and government officials to exchange information, support
professional development, improve communications and build partnerships
to enhance the government's ability to serve the nation's citizenry. The
Defense Business Transformation Agency will be represented by Mr. Paul Brinkley,
Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Business Transformation, and Mr. Thomas
Modly, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Financial Management.
- 2006 AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition, Washington Convention Center,
Washington, DC, October 9—11, 2006
The Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting, the world's
largest landpower forum, brings together America's Army — Active, Guard
and Reserve, retirees, family members and civilians. Speakers will include the
HON Kenneth J. Krieg Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology & Logistics
and the HON Michael A. Kirby Deputy Under Secretary of the Army for Business
Transformation. The Defense Business Transformation Agency will be represented
at booth #164.
- NDTA 60th Annual Forum and Exposition, Memphis,
TN, September 23 —27, 2006
The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) is
a non-political, non-profit educational association of government,
military, and industry professionals dedicated to fostering
a strong and efficient global transportation and distribution
system in support of national security. MG Carlos "Butch" Pair, USA, Defense Business Systems Acquisition Executive for the BTA will speak on Defense Business Transformation — the
Future. The Defense Business Transformation Agency will also

- Modern Day Marines, MCB, Quantico, VA, September 12—14, 2006
At the military service level, this major event in September at Quantico served as a premier equipment, systems, services and technology exposition. The Exposition was located at the heart of Marine requirements, research & development, acquisition, procurement and professional school activities. The Defense Business Transformation Agency was represented at booth #6404.
- The 6th Enterprise Architecture Conference & Exhibition, Ronald Reagan Building, Washington, DC, September 11-13, 2006
The conference was a forum for the public sector to discuss the evolution and impact of the Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) reference models, learn about best practices, and explore newly-enhanced tools to support Enterprise Architecture (EA) initiatives across federal, state, and local government organizations. David Fisher, Enterprise Integration Executive, Defense Business Transformation Agency (BTA), was the luncheon keynote speaker on September 12 and other BTA employees participated in panel discussions.

The Defense Business Transformation effort was represented at the Defense Finance 2006 Conference. Keynote presenters included Paul A. The Defense Business Transformation effort was represented
at Sea-Air-Space 2006,
Washington, D.C., April 4 - 6, 2006. This exposition featured advanced
technologies and upcoming programs for the maritime domain.
- The Business Management
Modernization Program (BMMP) held an
Industry
Day
event on Thursday, August 11th, 2005. The focus of
BMMP Industry Day was to provide an overview of the
program's future activities, organizational structure,
and service support needs. This Industry day was
a prelude to an RFP for a future IDIQ. However, the government
reserves the right to cancel any planned acquisition. Please

The annual meeting of the American
Society of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) Professional
Development Institute (PDI) was held in
Salt Lake City, Utah, between June 1-3, 2005. BMMP hosted
four workshops and an exhibit booth. To learn more about
general BMMP efforts, System Certification
requirements, the Standard Financial Information Structure
(SFIS), and Portfolio Management. Conference information

On June 13, the BMMP hosted an All Hands
Meeting to provide an update on program activities to
date. The topics discussed were the Business Enterprise
Priorities (BEPs), the Transition Plan and Program Baseline
and the Business Enterprise Architecture.

- BMMP participated in the annual American Society
of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) Professional Development
Institute (PDI) conference in Salt Lake City,
Utah from May 31 - June 3, 2005. Visit the ASMC

- On April 27, 2005 BMMP held an All Hands Meeting for
government and contractor program staff to discuss the
BMMP program realignment, including the new governance
and IRB certification processes. Briefing

- BMMP participated in the annual Navy League
conference--Sea-Air-Space 2005--in Washington,
DC, between March 22-24, 2005, and sponsored an exhibit

- Military Technologies Conference in
Boston, Massachusetts, between March 15-16, 2005. This

- February 25, 2005 -- the Director, BMMP,
presented a briefing on Integrating Enterprise Architecture
and Capital Planning in DoD at the Digital Government

- Between February 1-3, 2005, the Deputy
Director, BMMP, participated in the joint Navy
Financial Management Office and DFAS-Cleveland conference in
San Diego, California. This joint initiative provided a
forum for BMMP to educate these communities about its purpose,
goals, and impacts.
- Professional Military Comptroller's
School (PMCS)
On October 25, 2004, the Chief Architect participated in
the Professional Military Comptroller's School (PMCS) in
Huntsville, AL. BMMP participates in the quarterly sessions
held at the school as part of its curricula developed on
educating and training tomorrow's financial manager. A
general overview of the BMMP is presented to include information
on the Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA), Governance

- American Society of Military
Comptrollers (ASMC)
On October 21, 2004, the Division Chief, Extension and
Maintenance, Business Enterprise Architecture (BEA) participated
in the annual Professional Development Day held by the
SW Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Military
Comptrollers (ASMC). The topic for discussion was an overview
of the BMMP with a focus on the BEA and the Financial Improvement
Plan.
- On September 22, 2004, the Director of
the Business Management Modernization Program delivered
the keynote
address at the E-Gov DoD Enterprise Architecture
Conference held at the Ronald Reagan Building
in Washington, DC. The Director provided participants with
an overview of the program to include accomplishments,
current initiatives and next steps. The text of this speech
is provided as prepared for delivery.
- Dr. Paul Tibbits, Director, DoD Business
Management Modernization Program, was recently interviewed
for the radio show "The Business of Government
Hour." The interview was broadcast on Saturday,
September 25, 2004 on WJFK FM 106.7 in Washington, D.C.

- Director, Transformation Support Office
(TSO), participated in the Program Executive Office,
Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) conference on
June 22, 2004 in Portsmouth, VA. The topic of discussion
was the Business Management Modernization Program (BMMP),
with a focus on system compliance, and its impact withi
for deliveryn the DoD community. PEO EIS provides infrastructure
and information management systems enabling the U.S. Army
to achieve victory through total information dominance.
PEO EIS develops, acquires, and deploys tactical and non-tactical

- BMMP personnel participated in the Defense
Logistics Agency (DLA) Quarterly Training conference on
June 30, 2004 in Springfield, VA. The focus was an overview
of the BMMP with an emphasis on system compliance. More

- The Assistant Deputy Director, Enterprise
Architecture, participated in the annual Association
of Government Accountants (AGA) Professional Development
Conference (PDC) was held in Washington, DC between
June 27-30, 2004. AGA serves government accountability
professionals by providing quality education, fostering
professional development and certification, and supporting
standards and research to advance government accountability.

- TSO and BMMP Domain staff participated
in the annual American Society of Military Comptrollers
(ASMC) Professional Development Institute (PDI) conference in
Cleveland, Ohio from June 1-4, 2004. Visit the ASMC

able to learn more about the BMMP and Domain activities

- The deputy director, for the TSO office,
participated in the Mini PDI conference
for the Washington, DC chapter of the American Society
of Military Comptrollers (ASMC) on March 30, 2004. The

- A TSO assistant deputy director and chief
architect participated in the Business Process
Management & Improvement for Government conference on
March 30, 2004 at the DoubleTree Hotel in Arlington, VA.
Attendees had an opportunity to learn about best practices
and hear case studies on business management and improvement.
