  • NRC Nuclear Education Grant Funding Opportunity: The NRC Nuclear Education Grant Program's primary purpose is supporting and developing the educational infrastructure necessary to allow the nation to safely move its nuclear energy initiatives forward. The program promotes and strengthens teaching programs in nuclear safety, nuclear security, nuclear environmental protection, and other fields that the commission determines to be critical to the NRC's regulatory mission by enhancing curricula and increasing faculty teaching competencies at higher education institutions. The NRC anticipates having up to $4.7 million available for this announcement. Additional information about this grant opportunity is available at http://www.grants.gov.   • Department Releases Economic Impact Study: Recently the National Center for Educational Statistics defined the economic impact of the nation's historically black colleges and universities.

  • Historically Black Colleges and Universities, 1976 to 2001

    The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to education in the United States and other nations. In September 2004, NCES released the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, 1976 to 2001, a report that presents a quarter-century of Historically Black Colleges and Universities trends. The report contains summary information for HBCUs on enrollment, degrees, staff, salaries, and finances, with comparisons to other colleges and universities. In addition, the report contains detailed information on individual HBCUs, with trends in enrollment, and detailed data on degrees, staff, and finances for recent years.
