Lindsey Kozberg joined the Department of Education in January 2001 as a spokesperson for Secretary of Education Rod Paige. In April 2001, Paige announced that Kozberg would serve as the director of the Department's office of public affairs. In that role, she serves as the primary spokesperson for Secretary Paige and for the Department on all matters, develops the Department's communications and outreach strategy, coordinates communication with members of the national and local media, directs the Department's speechwriting and publications operations and oversees its in-house television channel and radio news service.

Immediately before joining Paige as his primary spokesperson, Kozberg was the California press secretary for the Bush-Cheney 2000 presidential campaign. Prior to joining that campaign, Kozberg was an associate with the Los Angeles-based law firm Latham & Watkins, where she represented clients in connection with complex and high profile land use and real estate transactions. Her clients included the developers of Los Angeles' Staples Center, the J. Paul Getty Trust, Kendall-Jackson Wineries and American Golf Corporation.

Before beginning her legal practice, Kozberg served in the administration of California Governor Pete Wilson as a spokesperson and communications director for the California Department of Corporations. She began her career as an associate with the public relations firm of Robinson, Lake, Lerer & Montgomery, where she specialized in crisis management and corporate communications strategy development for clients in the financial services, consumer products and entertainment fields.

A native of Los Angeles, Kozberg received her bachelor of arts from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University, and her Juris Doctor degree from Stanford University Law School.
