Updated Soil Quality Assessment and Applications for Field Staff Training Course

soil logoThe NRCS Soil Quality National Technology Development Team is offering an updated version of its training course, Soil Quality Assessment and Applications for Field Staff. In response to participants’ feedback, the soil quality team hosted a working meeting of course instructors including the National Agronomist, a National Soil Survey Center scientist, State and field office staffs, as well as Conservation Technology Information Center, National Center for Appropriate Technology, soil and water conservation district, and university representatives, to revise the course. The result was a course with updated content, improved regional relevance, diversified delivery styles, and more field-based activities. While retaining the core soil quality concepts, new national topics have been added such as use of the Soil Conditioning Index. States will have the ability to elect some new modules on regional soil quality issues such as salinity and irrigation management to enhance the course. To schedule the course, please contact Ray Archuleta at 336-370-3360.
