Summary

GAO reviewed the Department of Transportation, Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) new rule on electronically controlled pneumatic brake systems. GAO found that (1) the final rule adds a subpart governing electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brake systems to FRA's regulations governing freight power brakes and equipment; and (2) FRA complied with the applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
