Opportunities are available to adopt animals by appointment at BLM´s Litchfield Corral Facility, 20 miles east of Susanville, CA (530)254-6762 and Ridgecrest Corral Facility (800) 951-8720. Adoption by appointment is also available at BLM´s National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley, NV (755) 475-2222 located 20 miles northeast of the Reno-Sparks area on the Pyramid Lake Highway (Route 445).
Implementation of New Wild Horse and Burro Authority as Directed by Congress: 02/11/2005 The Bureau of Land Management is in the process of implementing legislation recently passed by Congress. The legislation directs the BLM to offer for sale those wild horses and burros that are more than 10 years old or have been unsuccessfully offered for adoption at least three times.
