If ever there was a man who needs a big shovel, it is the US prez

I can only imagine what urgent and frantic meetings the US Embassy in Windhoek must have had on Wednesday and Thursday to formulate a new policy on public statements seeing that the world’s number one hole has been given his marching orders by an electorate fed up with weapons of mass destruction.
Perhaps, under a new enlightened administration, the gullible US citizen will find out the Federal Reserve is a far more powerful weapon of mass destruction than any delusion dished up by the Republicans.
Long live the Democrats and long live America, but thanks God we have come to the end of a painful eight-year stint under Bush. At least now the embassy staff can look one in the eyes again.

Drinking beer dangerous

Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) has responded to South Africa’s new law, which requires all alcoholic beverages to carry a health warning message on their labels, by placing hazard signs on its intoxicating products.
It is hoping that the move will promote responsible drinking. The warning labels will also appear on containers of beer sold locally.
The wording on the labels include “Alcohol abuse is dangerous to your health”, “Alcohol reduces driving ability, do not drink and drive”, and “Drinking during pregnancy can be harmful to your unborn baby”.

Trustco secures US$52 million for expansion

Barclays Capital plc will put up US$52 million in debt funding to expand Trustco Group Holdings Ltd., the company’s MD, Quinton van Rooyen, said this week.
Van Rooyen told a delegation from the Johannesburg Securities Exchange (JSE) that the money would be used to fund further expansion programmes.
“The transaction was approved by the board and is subject to shareholder approval. A meeting of shareholders is being convened and a further announcement will be made after this meeting,” he said.
