The most important source for bibliography of books and articles
concerning Brazil is the annual Handbook
of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/)
produced by over 160 contributing editors under the editorship
of the Hispanic Division of the
Library of Congress. After 1990, coverage in the Handbook for
Folklore is more appropropriately covered by the Folklore Volume
of the Modern
Language Association's International Bibliography. Since
1989, much of the indexing for this Folklore Volume has been
done under the auspices of the Indiana University
- MLA Cooperative Folklore Bibliography Project. See the resources
page of the Society
for Ethnomusicology for materials relating
to
Ethnomusicology.
Additional coverage of journal
articles can be found through a subscription
to the Hispanic
American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/).
The Handbook, the MLA International Bibliography and HAPI are
available in selected libraries either in electronic format
or in book form.
One of the major aggregators for links to a wide variety of
subjects relating to Brazil is the University of Texas' LANIC (http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/brazil/).
