Experience a place where history and nature unite!

Prince William Forest Park is an oasis of natural beauty and human history located only 35 miles south of Washington, DC. 37 miles of hiking trails and 21 miles of bicycle-accessible roads and trails traverse this 15,000 acre piedmont forest. Beneath its canopy lies evidence of human history reaching back to 8,000 B.C.

Look for a place for winter fun!

Prince William Forest Park is open year-round for all-season fun!  Visit our For Kids page to see our junior ranger booklet.  Pick up the booklet daily at the visitor center from 9 am to 5 pm for free! Kids who complete the booklet get a junior ranger badge and certificate signed by a National Park Service Park Ranger.

Firewood Restrictions in Place!

Are you planning on camping in Prince William Forest Park? Do your part to protect the forest from invasive insects by abiding by the park's firewood restrictions. Until further notice, all outside firewood is prohibited in the park. Please collect wood that is dead and downed in the park for your campfire. Click here for more information.
