National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship

The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) is a network of groups and individuals that offer support to cancer survivors and their loved ones. It provides information and resources on cancer support, advocacy, and quality of life issues. A section of the NCCS Web site and a limited selection of publications are available in Spanish.

Programs include:

  • Cancer: Keys to Survivorship: A free program that teaches cancer survivors, family members, friends, caregivers, and health professionals the important skills to help live with, beyond, and through cancer.

  • The Cancer Survivor Toolbox: A free, award-winning audio program that teaches skills that can help people with cancer meet the challenges of their illness. The Toolbox includes a Basic Skills set that covers six important topics: communicating, finding information, making decisions, solving problems, negotiating, and standing up for your rights. In addition, the Toolbox includes three additional programs that cover topics for older persons, finding ways to pay for care and caring for the caregiver.

  • Everyday Heroes: Everyday Heroes are cancer survivors, families, friends, and caregivers serving on the "front lines" whether it is a laboratory or a patient's bedside. Please join us as we pay tribute to just a few of those whose lives have been touched by cancer and who have touched our lives here at NCCS.
