A Systemic Approach to Implementing Early Learning Guidelines: Implications of One State's Efforts

Summary: This Microsoft PowerPoint presents a systemic approach to implementing early learning guidelines and discusses how they are aligned with efforts to improve child care quality. More than 25 States are exploring, designing, or piloting a quality rating system. A case example is included from Maine. Fifty-nine percent of child care programs in Maine failed to reach benchmarks above minimal in Language and Reasoning. Maine’s timeline for implementation of their Early Childhood Learning Guidelines (ECLG) is included. On-site TA is essential in supporting child care providers’ ability to transfer learning into practice.
