Gary Rosen, CommentaryGary Rosen is the managing editor of Commentary and was formerly senior editor of the Manhattan Institute's City Journal. He is the author of American Compact: James Madison and the Problem of Founding (1999), which the American Historical Review recently called "the place to start" for "the serious student of Madison's political thought." His contributions to Commentary include "Amistad and the Abuse of History," "Can We Prevent Genocide?," "Triangulating the Constitution," "Are School Vouchers Un-American?," and "Yes and No to Gun Control," and his articles and reviews have appeared regularly in the Wall Street Journal.
