February 10: This issue will be discussed at the CPT Editorial panel meeting in February. March 8: This issue was discussed at yesterday’s meeting of the Practicing Physician’s Advisory Council. It was also addressed at the March 11th Physician’s Open Door Forum. The CPT editorial committee has discussed the problem at a February meeting. We hope to have more information in the near future. April 15: An intravenous or intra-arterial push is now defined as a 15 minute infusion in which the healthcare professional who administers the substance/drug is continuously present. The previous description defined a push as any infusion up to 30 minutes. This change brings the CPT description of IV push closer to the traditional definition and reduces the number of treatments in the doctor's office which require the continuous presence of a healthcare professional.
