Process Evaluation: Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE EH)

In 2003, the Environmental Health Services Branch used the 1% evaluation funding mechanism to conduct a PACE EH process evaluation. The process evaluation was designed to answer five principal questions:

    • Awareness: How have potential users become aware of PACE EH?
    • Adoption: What factors contributed to their decisions to implement PACE EH?
    • Implementation process: How is PACE EH implemented in communities that have elected to use it?
    • Intermediate effects: What have been the intermediate effects of PACE EH on agencies and communities?
    • Recommendations: What recommendations do local and national stakeholders have for improving the methodology and the guidance?

The results of the process evaluation are presented in the Process Evaluation of PACE EH Final Report produced by the Battelle Centers for Public Health Research and Evaluation.
