Epidemiology Elective Program for Senior Medical and Veterinary Students

Eligibility and Application Information

Eligibility

You must be a

  • Medical or veterinary student in your 3rd year when you apply.
  • Available for at least 6 weeks during your 4th year.

Education

You must be enrolled in a school accredited by one of the following:

  • Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
  • American Osteopathic Association.
  • American Veterinary Medical Association.

Citizenship

You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Application Process

The online application for the fall and spring semesters will be available late February; or contact EpiElective@cdc.gov to request a paper application.

 

Supporting Documents

Supporting documents must be postmarked by the deadline for your chosen semester. Faxed or e-mailed documents will not be accepted.

 

Letters of Recommendation

  • Two letters of recommendation are required.
  • Select individuals who know you professionally and with whom you have recently worked.
  • At least 1 letter must be from a faculty member of your school.
  • Provide them with a copy of the Letter of Recommendation PDF (2 pages, 83 KB).
  • Letters must be mailed directly to the Epidemiology Elective Program by the deadline.

 

Academic Endorsement

  • Download the Academic Endorsement PDF (1 page, 28 KB).
  • Have the form completed and signed by the student affairs office at your medical or veterinary school.
  • Mail the form to the CDC Epidemiology Elective Program by the deadline.
