The Library of Congress has prepared a number of online finding aids that conform to the Encoded Archival Description standard. One of these is the register for the Federal Theatre Project collection.
The finding aid describes the entire Federal Theatre Project collection, estimated to include 525,000 items. Several thousand items have been digitized and approximately 3,000 images are presented in this release of the online collection. Late in 1997 or early in 1998, an additional 10,000 pages (20,000 images) will placed online.
The finding aid does not now contain links to the digital images that have been placed online. The next version of the online collection will implement links from the finding aid to the images. Apart from some illustrative examples, this will represent the Library's first effort to link an EAD finding aid to digital reproductions of content. Additional background information will be offered when the linked finding aid is ready.
