Medicare Assures Patients About Access to Oxygen

Many people with lung disease who are using oxygen have contacted the American Lung Association this week concerned over possible loss of lifesaving oxygen equipment provided by Medicare. According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, which issued a consumer alert on Wed., December 17, this worry is in most cases unfounded and stems from misleading information. Individuals with questions on this issue are welcome to call the American Lung Association’s Lung HelpLine at 1-800-LUNGUSA to speak to a registered nurse or respiratory therapist, or view a list of frequently asked questions (PDF) regarding changes to home oxygen and equipment courtesy of www.medicare.gov.
