Who
Are We?
CDC has been involved in FAS-related activities since
1991. The mission of the CDC FAS Prevention Team is to prevent fetal
alcohol syndrome and other prenatal alcohol-related conditions and
ameliorate these conditions in children already affected. CDC works with
partners across the country to develop systems to monitor exposures and
outcomes, conduct epidemiologic studies and public health research to
identify maternal risk factors associated with giving birth to a child with
FAS, and implement and evaluate FAS prevention and intervention programs.
