NOTICE OF OPENING

Applications for “Chemist for the Panama Canal Ecosystems Services Project in Agua Salud” will be accepted effective immediately.

Location of Position: Earl Tupper Center, Ancon, Panamá

Major duties and responsibilities:

Incumbent performs a full range of quantitative tests of physical and chemical constituents, wet laboratory analyses and instrumental analyses on water, soil, and sediment samples using previously developed biogeochemical methods. Normally, the samples are submitted by project personnel to the laboratory; however, the incumbent will also visit field studies as necessary to collect soil, water, sediment, and vegetation samples. The analyses and tests are to determine the chemical composition of substances, presence, and identification of compounds in samples submitted to the laboratory. The results are used by project personnel for scientific investigations and research studies. Performs routine calculations. May perform computer programming used for the analysis and reduction of data. Writes a laboratory report identifying the sample, stating the methods and procedures used, and showing the results.
