Funded Partners:
National Nongovernmental Organizations (NGOs) National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE)
NASBE is the national private association representing all state and
territorial boards of education. Since 1987, NASBE has partnered with the

assistance to state and local education policymakers and practitioners.
NASBE's
goal is to encourage safe, healthy, and nurturing school environments for
all of the nation's children and youth.
NASBE's Program in Action
NASBE is funded under two Capacity-Building Assistance
categories:
- Preventing HIV Infections: State and Local Education Agencies.
- Preventing Chronic Diseases: Increasing Healthy Eating.
For Preventing HIV Infections: State and Local Education Agencies, NASBE
is
- Providing capacity-building assistance to four CDC/Division of
Adolescent and School Health (DASH)-funded state or local education

and local education agencies in their efforts.

education and other education stakeholders on policies that promote
effective HIV prevention for kindergarten through 12th grade students in
schools across the nation.

educate board members and raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS crisis in
the African American Community; and 2) demonstrate the correlation
between health disparities, risk behaviors, and education disparities,
and the role of cultural competency.
- Meeting with various NGOs and government agencies to plan and
coordinate capacity building assistance (CBA) activities.

eating to the nation’s state and local health and education agencies by
