Science Ambassador Lecturer Biography

    Cynthia Moore, MD, PhD

    Cynthia Moore is a clinical geneticist who currently an acting team leader in the Office of Genomics and Disease Prevention heads the Pediatric Genetics Team in the National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Moore completed her MD and pediatrics residency at the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in Memphis, Tennessee and her doctorate and clinical fellowship in medical genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She continues to practice clinical genetics on a part-time basis at Emory University School of Medicine where she is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Human Genetics. Her research interests at CDC include mechanisms of morphogenesis, syndrome identification, birth defects surveillance, and classification of birth defects and genetic syndromes.
