Slide 4: Characteristics of HPS Case-Patients, United States

Slide 4: This slide shows demographic information for all confirmed HPS cases (465 cases). The mean age of the cases is 38 years (range: 10 to 83 years). Sixty-four percent are males. The racial distribution for the cases is 78% White, 19% American Indian, 2% African American, and 1% Asian/Pacific Islander. Hispanics (ethnicity considered separately from race) account for 14% of cases. The case fatality ratio is 35%.
