Author and musician James McBride speaks at the National Book Festival.
Speaker Biography: Award-winning author and accomplished composer/musician James McBride was a journalist for eight years at The Boston Globe, People and The Washington Post before moving to New York to pursue music. He wrote the critically acclaimed New York Times best-selling memoir "The Color of Water" (1996) while working as a tenor saxophonist for the legendary Little Jimmy Scott. His book awards include the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award and the ALA Notable Book of the Year Award. His latest book is "Song Yet Sung" (Penguin/Riverhead Books, 2008). He lives in Pennsylvania and New York, where he is currently Distinguished Writer in Residence at New York University.
