Activities of the NORA Services Sector Council

Council activities are outlined below. Contact the Sector Coordinator with any questions or comments.

November 2007
Third meeting considered prioritization among goals and began developing implementation plans. Improved surveillance is a goal across all sub-sectors of the services sector. Reduced musculoskeletal disorders is a goal across all high-risk sub-sectors. The following table indicates high priority causes of traumatic injuries, causes of illness and other topics in the indicated sub-sectors.

January 2007
Second meeting considered issues within the same and additional industries in the services sector: waste collection and disposal companies; schools; restaurants; amusement, recreation and sports; temporary labor industry; travel accommodations/hotels and motels; automotive repair; and building services. Workgroups will continue refining the draft goals within industries. Consolidating goals across industries will also be considered.

September 2006
First meeting to outline sector issues, identify key stakeholder organizations for possible participation, organize workgroups, and plan future actions. Small groups focused on issues in the services sector industries of food service, communications, waste management, hotel accommodations, and education.
