Biographical/Historical Data: Recordings made by John Henry Faulk under a grant from the Rosenwald Foundation, using their model K machine with two turntables, with some needles and glass-based lacquer discs supplied by the Library of Congress, which duplicated the recordings for the Archive of American Folk Song.
Summary: Collection of field recordings of African American Baptist, Church of God in Christ, Holiness, and African Methodist Episcopal church services and revivals in Texas, including scripture readings, choirs, religious songs, hymns, prayers, testimonials, and sermons.
Notes: Recorded on glass-based lacquer discs during religious services at various locations in Austin, San Marcos, Manor, Nelsonville, Navasota, Hempstead, Bryan, and Plantersville, Texas in August and September 1941 by John Henry Faulk.
