Summary: Field recordings of African American lined hymns, spirituals, and gospel music recorded in Florida between 1971 and 1975 for Pinkston's dissertation, "Lined hymns, spirituals, and the associated lifestyle of rural black people in the United States," University of Miami, 1975. Most recordings feature a cappella singing, with some songs accompanied by guitar and harmonica; individuals recorded include Brother R. Williams, J. Slappy, and Rev. Cross.
