TREA Washington Update for January 9, 2009
Happy New Year and good luck to us all in 2009. The
President-Elect arrived late on Sunday January 4. He met on Monday with
Congressional leaders and announced his nominees for the head of the CIA and the
Solicitor General. The new 111th Session of Congress convened on Tuesday January
6, and now we are off to the races. Roland Burris looks like he will be seated
as the new junior Senator of Illinois in the new future. And there is already
cautious negotiation concerning an economic stimulus package. Bills have already
started to be dropped in the House and the Senate and in the next few weeks will
soon have the new numbers for the 111th Session of Congress for you to follow.
