Action Institute Purpose/Goal/Objectives
Purpose:
To promote chronic disease prevention and health promotion at the community
level by bringing together Steps grantees, partners, and national
organizations to share lessons learned and to provide expertise related to
policy, systems, organizational, and environmental change strategies and sustainability of
programmatic efforts that address Steps initiatives.
Goal:
To provide information on how Steps communities have implemented specific,
sustainable programs and activities that have led to policy, systems,
organizational, or
environmental change interventions.
Learning Objectives:
After attending the 2008 Steps CAP Action Institute, participants will have
acquired new, detailed information about—
How various Steps programs have implemented policy, systems,
organizational, and environmental change strategies in their
communities.
Effective ways to apply the use of evidence-based and practice-based
tools and resources for implementing policy, systems, organizational,
and environmental change strategies.
Valuable methods for encouraging sustainability of programmatic
efforts at the community level.
Useful approaches for communicating the importance of sustainability
in the community to partners.
