Spotlight On Partner Activities

The National Alliance for Hispanic Health produces a culturally-proficient bilingual diabetes curriculum with NDEP consumer diabetes products for Hispanic communities
The National Alliance for Hispanic Health is the oldest and largest network of health and human service providers serving Hispanics. Their members, who are comprised of community-based organizations, provider organizations, government, national organizations, universities and for-profit corporations, provide services to more than 14 million Hispanic health consumers throughout the United States dedicated to community-based solutions.

Puerto Rico Diabetes Association (Asociación Puertorriqueña de Diabetes) Puerto Rico Diabetes Association: Reaching new heights in diabetes awareness campaigns
Since 1988 the Puerto Rico Diabetes Association (APD) (http://www.diabetespr.org/*), has been developing new methods of creating awareness on how to prevent and control diabetes, improve the well being of patients who suffer from it, and serve as support to their families. Today, the APD celebrates the satisfaction of fulfilling its mission during the past 18 years, and continues to fight against the third-leading cause of death in Puerto Rico by offering support and direction to people at high risk or those who have already been diagnosed with diabetes.

Puerto Rico’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Program (DCPC) Uses Spanish-Language NDEP Materials to Support Diabetes Education Campaign
The Puerto Rico Department of Health, Division of Preventive Medicine, Diabetes Section, proposed to establish an innovative diabetes project to reduce the impact of diabetes on the island of Puerto Rico. This project used the government’s television station and the university of Puerto Rico to produce educational segments for local television airing.
