Select Performance Measures

Slide 1

The Performance Measures selection section shown expanded from the Quick Start Format Table page. There are seven radio button selections in this section.

Description:

This slide displays a typical query screen with the Performance Measures box and radio button sets highlighted.

Narration:

There are three kinds of data or metrics provided in NDE queries. These are selected among the performance measures, which offer different ways of presenting the same metrics.

Slide 2

Performance Measures selection section shown with a highlight box drawn around the three average scale score measures.

Description:

This slide displays a static screenshot of the Performance Measures box with highlighting on average scale score, average scale with percentage, and average scale with standard deviation radio buttons.

Narration:

Average scale scores are the simplest measures of student performance. They reflect student performance on an arbitrary scale of 0-300 or 0-500, depending on the subject. Scale score data can be selected either alone or with percentages or standard deviation data.

Slide 3

Performance Measures selection section shown with a highlight box drawn around the two achievement level measures.

Description:

This slide displays a static screenshot of the Performance Measures box with highlighting on achievement level cumulatively and achievement level discretely radio buttons.

Narration:

Achievement level data classifies students into one of four groups, based on their score: below basic, at or above basic, at or above proficient, advanced. Achievement data can be presented cumulatively, grouping advanced and proficient students with larger groups. Achievement level data can also be presented discretely or individually for each group, with the total percentages summing to 100.

Slide 4

Performance Measures selection section shown with a highlight box drawn around Percentiles.

Description:

This slide displays a static screenshot of the Performance Measures box with highlighting on percentiles radio button.

Narration:

Percentile data identifies the actual scores under which some percentage of the student population scores. For example, if 25 percent of the student body scores lower than 325, then 325 is the 25th percentile.

Slide 5

Performance Measures selection section shown with a highlight box drawn around Average Scale Scores with Percentage and Percentages Only

Description:

This slide displays a static screenshot of the Performance Measures box with highlighting on average scale with percentage and percentages only radio buttons.

Narration:

Two measures contain percentage data. Not to be confused with percentiles, percentages do not reflect student performance at all, but track demographics and other factors that may be related to education.
