2005 Survey

Background

In October 2006 the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB), which is responsible for reviewing all government surveys, approved the new Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Hearing Screening and Follow-Up Survey. The purpose of this new survey is to obtain annual EHDI data from states and territories in a consistent manner to assess progress towards meeting the National EHDI Goals and the Healthy People 2010 Objective 28−11 (a – c).

Design

The CDC-EHDI program worked with key input from the Directors of Speech and Hearing Program in State Health and Welfare Agencies (DSHPSHWA) and other partners to develop this new survey. The survey has three separate parts that include:

Part 1: Screening, Diagnostic, and Intervention Data
Part 2: Type and Severity of Identified Hearing Losses
Part 3: Demographic Data
