IOM and Viral Hepatitis
Institute of Medicine (IOM) to address Prevention and Control of Viral Hepatitis Infections in the United States
CDC, along with other partners, has commissioned the IOM to examine the prevention and control of viral hepatitis infections in the United States. The committee met December 4, 2008 and over the next year, will be:
- addressing ways to reduce new hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections and the morbidity and mortality related to chronic viral hepatitis.
- assessing current prevention and control activities and identifying priorities for research, policy, and action.
- highlighting issues that warrant further investigations and opportunities for collaboration between private and public sectors.
