Turkey Trot Festival
A major event of this
54-year-old festival, held the second Friday and Saturday in
October in Yellville, is the National Wild Turkey Calling Contest,
the oldest established contest of this kind in the U.S. Also
included is a turkey release from the roof of the courthouse, a
target shoot, Miss Drumsticks and Miss Turkey Trot pageants, a
parade, a street dance, free entertainment, an arts and crafts
show, a 5K run, a turkey dinner, and a National Wild Turkey
Federation auction. Text, photographs, a videotape, programs, and
souvenir T-shirts and buttons document the festival.
