Montana Horse Story
The
fourth largest state of the United States has a magnificent
geography, wild animals and wild areas. In Montana you can truly
experience the adventure of the American West. As state with a
tradition of ranching and cattle drives, the horse has played an
important part in Montana's history, economy, and romantic image.
Horse riding skills of cowboys and cowgirls are celebrated at the
numerous rodeos held annually throughout the state.
This local legacy project pays homage to the horse in
Montana and its impact on Montanans by chronicling in still
photography the traditions of the rodeo, and other equine aspects.
Documentation comprises 21 photographs, taken by the
photojournalist and rodeo photographer, Alison Collins, of Helena,
and her son, Joshua Collins, also a photographer.
